Xbox Game Pass subscribers surprised with new free benefits

Microsoft has surprised Xbox Game Pass subscribers with some new, free benefits that can be claimed right now. While many of the benefits of Game Pass revolve around the library of games on Xbox and PC that are accessible, Microsoft often collaborates with other companies to make the service that much better. Now that trend has continued again, this time through a new partnership with Apple.

From now until March 31, 2023, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can redeem a free trial of both Apple TV+ and Apple Music. This trial period for each service lasts for a total of 3 months and is only available to those who are not currently subscribed to either platform. This essentially means you can’t stack this 3-month trial on top of any memberships you already have. While this is a bit of a letdown, it’s at least a cool new offer that should give Game Pass subscribers a chance to try these services out for themselves.

As usual, the main caveat to this situation is that this offer is only available to those who are subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. This means that if you have a standalone subscription to Xbox Game Pass for console or PC, you won’t be able to take advantage of this deal. While this may be upsetting to some, it really shouldn’t come as a shock as these extra perks associated with Game Pass are always tied to the Ultimate version of the service. While Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is a bit more pricey than the basic options available, Microsoft is at least doing its best to make this level worth it through additional perks like this one at Apple.
