WWE had its first-ever Pitch Black Match at the Royal Rumble, which came about thanks to Mountain Dew sponsoring the Rumble, the Pitch Black match, and the Rumble press conference. The match was full of glowing elements and neon colors, and now it looks like WWE is teasing another unique partnership for WrestleMania 39. This time, the partnership moves from drinks to cereal, as WWE Senior VP and Head of Global Sales and Partnerships Craig Stimmel teased a Cinnamon Toast Crunch collaboration for the big show.
In an interview with THR, Stimmel spoke of the impressive sponsorship revenue that WrestleMania 39 has already brought in. With several months to go, WrestleMania 39 sponsorship revenue is already 43% higher than for WrestleMania 38, and that will likely continue to climb as we move into the final months and weeks leading up to the event.
One of the event’s new sponsors is Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and Stimmel teased that there will be “surprises on the show and named the new sponsor.” I don’t want to give too much away, but it will be around a game, and the sponsorship of that game and what they can bring to that game,” said Stimmel. “So we’re also going to do things that fit our storyline.”
No one knew what a Pitch Black match was before the Rumble, and it ended up being quite entertaining and visually striking as well. As for what would become a Cinnamon Toast Crunch match, your guess is as good as ours, but I’m not going to lie and say I’m not intrigued by the concept.
As for WrestleMania 39, two matches have already been locked up for the biggest wrestling event of the year, and more should be in sight after Elimination Chamber. There have been some rumors of matchups that would break the house if they are eventually included, but we’ll just have to wait and see how things pan out. You can find the current card for WrestleMania 39 below.
