WWE Raw Superstar Dijak Makes Expected Return to NXT

Starting with WWE NXT’s Halloween Havoc, NXT teased an anticipated return to the NXT fold, with the first-ever teaser featuring the burning of a mask. That was identified as former Retribution member T-Bar’s mask, and as promised, he left that character in the dust. The former Dominik Dijakovic was set to make his long-awaited return to NXT tonight after Wes Lee successfully retained his North American Championship against Carmelo Hayes, and he appeared behind Lee and hit him in the face with a knee. The man now simply referred to as Dijak has a theme of justice these days, as highlighted in commentary and in his entry, and you can find his full return in the video below.

It looks like he will be in the North American championship mix, at least for the foreseeable future, and so we should get some great matches between Lee and Dijak. At the post-Halloween Havoc media conference, Shawn Michaels was asked about the tease and talked about how Dijak’s return to NXT came about, though at the time Michaels didn’t outright confirm who the tease was about.

“Excited! So that’s one, that’s one of the things… it’s not that we don’t see what’s going on in the world of social media and the shaking of fists at different things that were done with different characters over the years,” says Michaels. “And we’re doing what we can here creatively to kind of give a nudge wink wink, we see you and we hear you. I’d like to take credit for that, but I’ve got a pretty good lead writer here who comes out with some pretty hip stuff in Johnny Russo. I’ll put you here Johnny! But see that was just something he mentioned, just a quick tease and I loved that. ‘

“I mean, I think we’ve already given a bunch of those away, but when you get a talent that’s 1 very talented, and we felt like it just came into its own in NXT, and then, from our perspective, it happened there was another pandemic and there were a lot of rapid changes and we lost a lot of people,” Michaels said. And when they’re willing to give us a chance to get them back, we look at it, and I don’t mean it bad, but we like that new toy.”

“I mean to take guys with this much talent, and I think one of the things that we’re definitely trying to do here or definitely try to do in the future is try not to offend the fans and not pretend that someone isn’t who they were recently,” Michaels said. “But just connect the dots. Make you think, tease it and let you feel what’s going to happen, and then of course we’ll surprise you and you’ll think it’s cool if it works.”
