Rumors are circulating about that Warhammer 40Ks next edition will be launched this summer, with an official announcement in May. Games Workshop usually releases new editions of its popular miniature skirmish game Warhammer 40,000 in three-year cycles, with a mix of rule changes, new miniatures and new ways to play the game. Since the current ninth edition came out in 2020, many fans are wondering if Games Workshop is preparing to launch a tenth edition of Warhammer 40K. A certain YouTuber, Chapter Master Valrak, has released a series of videos claiming that the 10th Edition will indeed launch in June, featuring a Starter Box featuring Space Marines and Tyranids.
It is of course not that difficult to guess that the 10th edition will be released this year. Games Workshop is currently being published Arks of Omens, a new multi-book campaign that features “the next big story jump for Warhammer 40,000”. Games Workshop typically ushers in a new edition with a campaign that sets the tone for the upcoming edition and Arks of Omens is rumored to end with the return of Lion El’Jonson, the Primarch of the Dark Angels, who has been healing in stasis since the Horus Heresy.
The good news is that even if Games Workshop is planning a new edition of Warhammer 40,000, it just means a new entry point for new players and some new rulebooks to buy. While Games Workshop loves the new releases of miniatures, all old miniatures remain usable in the game. All armies currently used in Warhammer 40,000 will remain relevant when the 10th edition comes out.
