Wakanda Forever Reveals New Talokan Costume Details

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever had a tailor-made look for all residents of Talokan. But the luxury brand Iris Van Herpen contributed to the design of Namora. The company posted about it on Instagram and @ororoswind captured the message on Twitter. In their description, fans get a sense of the intricate beadwork and layering present on this impressive garment. Add to that the fact that these designs are likely to come into contact with water at some point and it’s simply breathtaking. You can check out the post for yourself below!

Here’s what their post says: “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ~ a look at the studio. We made this ceremonial cape dress for Namor, prominently played by @Mabel_Cadena, to wear underwater in the recently released Marvel movie. Traditional Talokanil and handcrafted Mayan mosaic details are combined with silver-lined silk organza petals, each bead is hand-formed and baked for an authentic Namora presence.’

Costumes were forever on another level in Wakanda

Actually, Riri Williams’ Mark I suit was another costume piece that turned out to be impressive. Most people don’t realize it was all a practical effect. Dominique Thorne sat down with Variety to share her experience under all that armor.

“Unlike some of the other colors that can be added later with visual effects, the Mark I was all practical,” explains Thorne. “To feel the weight of that on my body and just understand how it moves — you could almost say it’s clumsy, but when you put it on you realize, ‘Oh, this is actually such a clever construct , like all my joints are free, so I have so much movement. But this is also tough as hell. And it flies? Whoa!'”

If you’re considering watching Wakanda Forever, here’s a quick recap before you head to the cinema: “In Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – one of the most highly anticipated movie events of the year – Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba) fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and blaze a new trail for the kingdom of Wakanda. Tenoch Huerta Mejía is introduced as Namor, the king of a hidden undersea nation, and the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena and Alex Livinalli.
