Tim Allen reveals plot hole he “never understood”.

The Santas is the highly anticipated limited series that continues the story of Tim Allen’s Scott Calvin aka Santa Claus. The actor first played the role in Santa in 1994, and there’s a moment that many fans have questioned over the years. One of the Internet’s favorite gags is how confused it was that Allen’s character accidentally killed the original Santa Claus. At D23 Expo in September, it was revealed that the previous Santa’s death would be featured in the new series, which is currently three episodes deep on Disney+. During a recent interview with Jimmy FallonAllen admitted that Santa’s death in the original film was a plot hole he “never understood.”

“I never understood, not even in the movie, why when I showed up at the North Pole the elves didn’t say, ‘Hey, what happened to that other guy?’ You know, I’ll just jump in the sleigh with the boy and we’ll go. No one ever asks, ‘Where is- does Mrs. Claus know the other man’s dead?’ There were huge gaps… So they, we came up with this script, The Santas. I now have a family. In the end, they all do this, they fill the gaps in this,” Allen shared.

How does Santa fit into 2022?

ComicBook. com also had a chance to talk to the director of the new show, Jason Winter, and asked if there were any issues modernizing Santa Claus.

“As the director, and looking at what [writer/creator] Jack [Burditt] and the writers have done from the outside what they’ve done great is relate things that happen in the real world to the myth of Santa Claus and how the sense of belonging that we all have and the idea that the growth of commercials, how it’s all about getting and not giving, how all those things might affect Santa’s magic. That’s such a fun and modern premise for this story, watching Santa rediscover his connection to faith and magic is a cool way to connect it to the now.
