Thunderbolts will “drop a bomb” to change the MCU (exclusive)

There will be a big bomb on the Marvel Cinematic Universe when Lightning strikes close phase five. The superhero ensemble film features a motley crew of characters, including David Harbour’s Red Guardian, Winter Soldier, Yelena Belova and US Agent. Every TV show or movie in the MCU usually adds something new to the universe, and Lightning strikes is no different. The plot of the film may be a closely guarded secret for now, but Lightning strikes star David Harbor teased how the film closes Phase 5 of the MCU with what he describes as a “bomb drop” moment.

Speaking with Brandon Davis of ComicBook.com ahead of the holiday theme release Violent nightDavid Harbor was asked if he read the script for Lightning strikes. Although he hasn’t read an official script, the actor got an overview of what’s planned in the Marvel film, which will start production in 2023. “I haven’t read a script, but I’ve heard the arc of the story and how the story goes,” Harbor said. “It’s very cool. It’s very unique. It also has all of this cool action and comedy, from what I’ve been described, and then there’s a bombshell that we add to the universe, which is going to be really exciting for the movie to do at the end of this particular phase that we’re ending. “

Thunderbolts Cast Officially Announced

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Officially Announced Lightning strikes at San Diego Comic Con. Lightning strikes will be released on July 26, 2024 and marks the end of phase five. Jake Schreier (Paper cities, Robot & Frank) is at the helm Lightning strikes and Black Widow writer Eric Pearson is writing the script. In the comics, it is revealed that the original Thunderbolts team is the supervillain group the Masters of Evil, which includes Citizen V (Baron Zemo), Techno (Fixer), Mach-1 (Beetle), Songbird (Screaming Mimi), Atlas (Goliath), and Meteorite (Moonstone). A recent version of the team was led in 2016 by Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier Lightning strikes.

The Lightning strikes cast was revealed at D23 Expo. Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova/Black Widow II) was not there in person, but was confirmed for the film. A cast photo for the panel revealed that Wyatt Russell (John Walker/US Agent), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava/Ghost), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and Julia Louis-Dreyfuss (Valentina Allegra de Fontaine) are all part of Thunderbolts, along with Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier. Concept art revealed that Black Widow’s Taskmaster is also on the team.

How will Thunderbolts change the MCU?

This isn’t the first time David Harbor has teased a potential bomb in Lightning strikes. “It will be funny,” Harbor told Gizmodo while also promoting Violent night. “It’s going to be weird, it’s going to be action. And then we’re going to drop a bomb too, which is cool.” What exactly that ‘bomb’ could be is a mystery. We do know that Harrison Ford will appear in Lightning strikes and Captain America: New World Order as General Thunderbolt Ross, who takes over the role previously held by Oscar-winning actor William Hurt, who died earlier this year.

Ford will reportedly make his debut as Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America: New World Order in May 2024; he will then reportedly appear in Marvel’s Lightning strikes film, which is slated to release in July 2024. That release schedule will presumably allow Ford to wrap up its appearances in one production stint of both films. Ford will also do work for Disney when he returns for Indiana Jones 5 end of June next year.
