Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War has continued to the climax of the first proper battle between the Soul Reapers and the Sternritter, and the latest installment of the series debuted a special ending theme sequence that is one of a kind! In the previous episode of the series, Chief Captain Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto tested his mettle against Yhwach only to lose to the villain in the end, and the latest episode confirmed that the worst was the case. But at the same time, fans also got exclusive material from the anime, as it brought out one of the elements that was really only alluded to in the arc’s original manga run.
Tite Kubo’s original version of the Thousand-Year Blood War arc mentioned how Yamamoto used to lead a very different type of 13 Court Guard Squads when they first fought the Sternritter, but now the anime has brought a more complete version of this arc to life , fans got to see these first Captains for the first time. To celebrate, Episode 7 had a special ending theme sequence and you can watch it below as shared by Viz Media:

Why does episode 7 have a special ending?
Episode 7 marks a major turning point Bleach: Millennial Blood War as it ends the first major conflict between the Soul Reapers and the Sternritter. It’s only the first battle in a much longer war to come, but it’s been made clear that the Quincies will be a much tougher foe than fan favorite fighters have ever faced. Maybe they should take their example from the much more violent, much stronger version of the captains of years ago.

A special reshoot for the anime, fans finally got to see the legendary first lineup in Yamamoto’s 13 Court Guard Squad Captains. They’re just as mean as Yhwach had teased, and it turns out they’re so cool that the anime had to honor these former captains with a special new ending theme that showcased each of their unique designs once more.
It has yet to be revealed if we’ll see them in action again in the future, but for now the anime has already moved on.
