The release date of the card game has been announced

Steamforged Games and The Coalition will release the anticipated Gears of Wars: The Card Game later this year, and now the game is available for preorder here. In addition to the ability to pre-order, Steamforged also revealed when the game will actually release, and Gears of War: The Card Game will hit stores in April. The game is for two players and lets you try to build your army with characters like Marcus Fenix and High General RAAM, and you can even recruit a Brumak to help with that. The game comes with 265 cards and 15 scenarios and costs $34.95.

Jamie Perkins, Project Lead on Gears of War: The Card Game, added: “The reception to our teaser has been astounding. We’re delighted to see longtime fans raving about this game. We’re thrilled to be able to present the game not only in English, but also in Spanish.”

Gears of War: The Card Game appears to be based heavily on the series’ original games, and the cards themselves display an attack value, a defense, and what appear to be charges or moves in the top left corner. From other images, it looks like there will be at least three different decks in play, one of which is COG, one is Locust, and one is cover and obstacles.

You’ll find the official description of Gears of War: The Card Game below and images of the game above.

“Listen up, soldier. The world is in ruins. The Locust Horde has risen. It’s Human vs Horde, and this is your mission: Pick a side, build a powerful deck, and win the war. The fate of the world lies in your hands!

Experience the gritty gunfights of the video game in this official two-player card game. Take command of the COG troops or the Locust horde and conquer the battlefield, chapter by chapter. Strategize your way through each chapter and power up your powers with classic characters like Marcus Fenix, General Raam, August “Cole Train” Cole, Dominic Santiago and Damon Baird.

Every battle counts. Whatever happens in each chapter will change what comes next, so you better be ready to dominate. The deck you build and the decisions you make will change the way you play each campaign, making this a game you can reload over and over again. Whether you’re a seasoned vet or a grassy rookie, get ready to take cover and lay down suppressive fire. Your enemies are trying to take the line, soldier. You better push back hard.”

Gears of War – The Card Game will hit stores later this year and is available for pre-order now.
