The New Day introduces Street Fighter-inspired gear

Former WWE NXT Tag Team Champions The New Day debuted brand new gear inspired by Street Fighter for their big title defense on WWE NXT Vengeance Day! As NXT’s first major premium live event of the year, fans had high expectations for each of the title matches on the card. Indeed, the most interesting was the NXT Tag Team Championship match, where it really looked like it could go four different ways due to all the talent involved. It seemed as if the new day was going to have a fight, and they came fully prepared for the occasion.

The New Day prepared to take on challengers Gallus, Pretty Deadly and Chase University and arrived in style at WWE NXT Vengeance Day, where Xavier Woods showed off his new gear inspired by E. Honda (and the Japan stage from the hunter Street Fighter II in particular) and Kofi Kingston showed off some new gear inspired by Blanka. You can take a closer look at their designs below, designed by Jonathan Davenport and created by @maineventgear on Instagram:

Street Fighter and WWE’s Big Team Up

It’s been a pretty good year for the Street Fighter franchise as they prepare to hit shelves later this year with the next big entry, Street Fighter 6, coming our way on June 2nd. It’s gotten a lot of love from the WWE, both in this unofficial winking way with the gear of Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston, but also in an official capacity. WWE Superstar Zelina Vega was announced as one of the special guest commentators in the game and even appeared in full Juri cosplay at the WWE Royal Rumble last month.

The rest of the WWE NXT Vengeance Day card was just as stacked as the Tag Team Championship match, with the card and results for the premium live event split so far as follows:

  • NXT North American Championship: Wes Lee defeats. Dike
  • NXT Women’s Tag Team Championships: Beat Kiana James and Fallon Henley. Katana Chance and Kayden Carter
  • Defeats Carmelo Hayes. Apollo crews
  • NXT Tag Team Championships: Gallus def. The New Day, Pretty Deadly and Chase U
  • NXT Women’s Championship: Roxanne Perez to Gigi Dolin to Jacy Jayne
  • NXT Championship: Source Breakker to Grayson Waller
