Prime Video has released the trailer for “The Making of Power rings,” a new feature that lets fans get a behind-the-scenes look at how The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power‘s eight-episode first season are made. Previously unreleased behind-the-scenes content is now available exclusively on Prime Video’s X-Ray through a full-screen experience that can be launched at any time while a viewer is watching The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. X-Ray episodes can also be accessed by scrolling to the Bonus Content section on the main series page for The Lord of the Rings series on Prime Video.
According to Prime Video, “X-Ray’s behind-the-scenes content invites audiences to get an up-close look at the season one production, allowing fans to discover how JRR Tolkien’s series meticulously brought Middle-earth to life in all its splendor. These ‘making of’ pieces, each corresponding to one of the eight episodes of the first season, offer an exciting deep dive into the series, with exclusive access, behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with the cast, showrunners, executive producers , directors and production team.”
“The making of Power ringsoffers a behind-the-scenes look at how locations from Tolkien’s writings such as Númenor and Khazad-dûm, both of which are shown at their heights, appear on screen for the first time in Power rings, are made. The segments include production design, set decoration, costumes, makeup, visual and special effects, stunts, sword fighting, horse riding and more.
According to Prime Video, the first season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has been viewed by over 100 million people worldwide, with over 24 billion minutes streamed, and attracted over 25 million global viewers on its first day to become the biggest premiere in the streaming service’s history. Power rings also debuted as the #1 show on Nielsen’s overall streaming chart on its opening weekend.
In addition, Power rings broke all previous Prime Video records for most viewers and has generated more new Prime sign-ups worldwide during its launch period than any other previous Prime Video original content. The Rings of Power is the #1 Original Series in every region, including North America, Europe, APAC, LATAM, and worldwide. The season finale caused quite a stir on social media, with multiple series-themed hashtags including #TheRingsofPower and others trending in 27 countries on Twitter for more than 426 cumulative hours over the weekend.
