The new edition of Werewolf: The Apocalypse finally has a release date. This has been announced by Renegade Game Studio Werewolf: The Apocalypse will be released at Gen Con in August this year. Billed as a new version of the popular World of Darkness title, players will be werewolves trying to prevent ecological devastation by targeting humans or creatures actively trying to bring about the end of the world through pollution or supernatural means. Each player belongs to a tribe, which has different beliefs and abilities. Some of the lore around Werewolf: The Apocalypse has been changed, as players can no longer play as members of a tribe long associated with fascism and the names of several other tribes have been changed to better respect indigenous cultures.
Werewolf: The Apocalypse is the third World of Darkness RPG re-released in recent years, following a new edition of Vampire: the masquerade And Hunter: the reckoning. All three RPGs are jointly published by Paradox Interactive and Renegade Games Studios – Paradox develops each game’s core system, and Renegade then publishes additional sourcebooks, Chronicles (the equivalent of campaigns), and expansions.
In other recent World of Darkness news, Vampire: the masquerade will be getting two new releases in the coming months: a Player’s Guide with all the rules for building characters in one location and a Blood seals book that adds more lines about Blood Alchemy and Blood Sorcery. In the meantime, Hunter: the reckoning will add one Lines drawn in blood sourcebook containing four stories that can be played individually or combined into one chronicle.
