Tears of the Kingdom update has got Nintendo fans excited

A new update regarding The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — the Nintendo Switch sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild — has excited Nintendo fans about Switch, Switch Lite, and Switch OLED. The update isn’t coming through Nintendo itself, but through Korea’s games rating board, which reviewed the game for release. Of course, the game already has a May release date, so this isn’t remarkable in that sense, but many Nintendo fans think that means a new trailer is coming soon.

If this happens, it will likely fall next month during The Game Awards 2022. Not only is that the only major event left for this year (or at least the only one that’s been announced), but both the series and Nintendo have a history of raising their heads on Geoff Keighley’s show.

That said, will it happen? Well, usually a release rating is an indication of a somewhat imminent release or a release date announcement. But we already know when the game will come out, so that doesn’t apply. Meanwhile, it’s also unclear why this review would be tied to a new trailer.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be released worldwide on May 12, 2023 via Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch OLED. You can read more about the game below, courtesy of an official description direct from Nintendo itself:

“Besides the vast land of Hyrule, the latest entry in the legendary Legend of Zelda series takes you to the skies! Look forward to Link’s massive adventure starting again when The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the KingdomThe sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wilddrops for Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.”
