Tears of the Kingdom fans are outraged by the high price

Fans of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom are outraged at the price of both the standard and collectible editions of the new Nintendo Switch game. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will be the biggest game on the Nintendo Switch this year, if not one of the biggest games of 2023 overall. There is a lot of hype behind it for several reasons. Sure, people just love Zelda and Nintendo, but it’s also a direct sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild that defined the Nintendo Switch and is arguably one of the greatest games ever.

However, it seems that the hype will come at a price. Nintendo has confirmed that following a new trailer for the game The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom costs $69.99 and $129.99 for the collector’s edition, which is a bit low compared to some of the other collector’s editions out there. Many publishers started charging $69.99 for their games over the last few years with the release of the new consoles, but it’s a little odd seeing it for Nintendo Switch since those other games did with the jump between machines. Yet the internet is in turmoil. Most people who are upset are pretty pissed off at the idea of this game costing an extra $10 when it’s still 1080p (or lower) and probably less than 60 FPS since the Nintendo Switch is much less powerful than other hardware . It’s designed that way, of course, but some wonder if Nintendo is taking advantage of the recent price trends.

While some fans are excited to grab the collector’s edition, others also noted that there’s nothing worth buying to justify an extra $60. It’s just a steelbook, an art book and some little trinkets besides the game. There are also rumors that Nintendo will have a limited edition Nintendo Switch for the game, but this has yet to be confirmed.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom releases on May 12, 2023 for the Nintendo Switch. Are you affected by the price increase? Let me know in the comments or give me a call Twitter @Cade_Onder.
