Taco Bell releases ‘Big Ass Mexican Pizza’

After a year-long hiatus, Mexican Pizza officially came back to Taco Bell locations across the country last year. The chain soon began experimenting with the product, testing variations that could potentially be rolled out to markets to support returns. Now the fan favorite is releasing its biggest version of the fast food taco pizza yet: the “Big A** Mexican Pizza.”

In honor of Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, Taco Bell locations in Glendale, Arizona – the city that hosts the Big Game – will deliver the Big A** Mexican Pizza to Taco Bell fiends lucky enough to win one. There is a small catch: not just the item not are available nationally, but the winners have already been chosen through the Taco Bell app, meaning those who get the item in and around Glendale have already been selected to win the item, which is four times the size of regular Mexican pizza.

“At Taco Bell, we are the only brand we are trying to surpass. The return of Mexican pizza in 2022 was a huge success, driven by our fans. So we wanted to innovate in what they love most and with an unexpected innovation that nobody ever saw it coming,” Sean Tresvant, Taco Bell’s brand officer, said in a press release. “While we’re not officially participating in the big game this year, we’re thrilled to bring select fans in Glendale, AZ and nearby towns the ultimate Taco Bell experience to take their wait parties to the next level.”

Fortunately for those hoping to get in on the action, there are still Mexican pizza-related promotions helping out elsewhere in the country. Anyone who orders more than $20 worth of food for delivery on the Taco Bell app this weekend — on Saturday, February 11 or Sunday, February 12 — will get a Mexican pizza on the house.

“Our menu is full of fan favorites, but the Mexican Pizza tops that list,” Taco Bell CEO Mark King previously said in a press release announcing the item’s return. “From the flashy introduction to menus in 1985 as ‘Pizzazz Pizza’ to the inspiration behind the creation of infamous jingles, Mexican Pizza has a long history with the brand and I’m thrilled we can give fans what they crave and bring our classic Mexican Pizza back home where it belongs.”
