Ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran came on board as co-CEOs of DC Studios, things have been moving. Henry Cavill was once again forced to give up his role as Superman and Gunn is writing a new movie after the Last Son of Krypton. The new Superman movie will follow the character as he comes to Metropolis for the first time. Patty Jenkins also announced her departure from Wonder Woman 3 and the future of Gal Gal Gadot as there may or may not be any doubts about the character. Batman on the other hand is a trickier situation because of the Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson The batter franchise. Pattinson’s Batman is in a totally separate universe and is expected to stay that way, so the DC Universe needs a Batman. One fan seems to have an idea for who the DCU’s Batman should be and it’s a Supernatural star. An artist recently released a new piece of fan art featuring Jensen Ackles as the Dark Knight for the DCU.
An artist on Instagram known as @Bobby_art has created a new concept that the Supernatural and The boys star as the Caped Crusader. In the fan art, Ackles is given a blue and gray batsuit with a gold-accented bat symbol. There’s no confirmation on whether Robert Pattinson’s Batman will appear in the main DCU, but Gunn hints at their own version of the character. You can check out the fan art below!
Gunn and Safran started out as co-CEOs of DC Studios last year, and it’s safe to say DC’s future looks bright. When the duo was announced by the new boss of Warner Bros. Discovery, they released a statement about their enthusiasm for the job.
“We are honored to be the stewards of these DC characters that we’ve loved since we were kids,” Gunn and Safran added in a joint statement. “We look forward to working with the most talented writers, directors and actors in the world to create an integrated, multi-layered universe that still allows for the individual expression of the artists involved. Our commitment to Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Harley Quinn and the rest of DC’s stable of characters is matched only by our dedication to the wonder of human possibility that these characters represent. We are excited to revive the theater experience around the world while we have some of the greatest, greatest, and grandest stories ever told.”
The most recently released DC movie to hit theaters was Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. Black Adam plays Johnson and also Aldis Hodge (Underground, The invisible man) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (To all the boys I used to love, Charlie’s Angels) as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell (Trinkets, Euphoria) as Cyclone, Sarah Shahi (The L word, Sex/Life) as Adrianna Tomaz and Pierce Brosnan (Golden Eye, Mama Mia!) as Doctor Lot. Uli Latukefu, Marwan Kenzari, Mohammed Amer, James Cusati-Moyer and Bodhi Sabongui have also been cast.
