Steve Austin addresses recent WWE return speculation

It doesn’t get much bigger in WWE than Stone Cold Steve Austin, which is why his return to in-ring action at WrestleMania 38 was so memorable. Austin returned for a match against Kevin Owens and then even returned for the second night of WrestleMania for a segment featuring Vince McMahon and Austin Theory. Over the past week, fans have noticed that Austin has been sharing more workout videos and looking better than ever, sparking speculation that he could be gearing up for a WWE return. Today, Austin took to Instagram to address those rumors and explain why he was working out, and you can check out the video below.

Austin took fans step-by-step through his current training plan and then took a moment to address the recent rumors, explaining that he was training more intensely for a reason, but maybe not the reason people thought. “People have speculated, hey Steve, you know what you’re doing, what you’re training for. Are you training for an event,” said Austin. “Speculate all you want. I just looked in the mirror and realized I looked like an asshole, so I called my diet coach.”

Austin would go over a few details about his current diet and then say it’s the “leanest I’ve been in… forever. Anyway, that’s the bottom line, I’m out guys. , when I was in the looking in the mirror, I looked like an asshole, so I’m taking action to do something about it.”

While he may not be returning to WWE at this point, he’s not ruling out another appearance at WrestleMania 39, as stated in an interview with the Brewbound podcasthe said when called he will be there.

“Well, for me to take part in WrestleMania 38, if you had told me, ‘Hey man, you’re going to be part of WrestleMania 38. Not only that, you’re going to be the main event on night one,’ I’d have said you’re full of shit and you’re crazy and there I was in Dallas Texas headlining the main event on day one so never say never but I can really imagine that in the context of that show, that’s going to be a big show in a big city and it’s going to be another two night event so I’m not — I’m sure I’m done wrestling per se, but as part of WWE, I can’t imagine being there in some capacity wouldn’t be and I’m not booking myself on the show because I didn’t book myself at 38. That’s a Vince [McMahon] thing and I have a great relationship with him and when I get the call I’ll be there.”
