Rick and Morty completely escaped the confines of the fourth wall and explored a meta-comment-filled space in the latest episode of Season 6, but it turns out that the toy Rick plush website that Rick Sanchez had advertised during the episode’s events was really created by Adult Swimming! During the series’ fourth season, Rick and Morty were trapped in a “Story-Train” filled with all sorts of possible adventures for them to take. But the real kicker was that in the “real” world of the series, this train was just a toy that fans could link to and check out more. Now it’s happened again.
Looking back at the outward commentary along the way Rick and Morty writes its episodes much like the Story-Train episode “Never Ricking Morty”, in season 4, the latest episode of season 6 brings back many of these ideas and characters in fun ways. One idea that really brings this full circle is the “Rick-Plush.biz” website that lists Rick where his plush toy is being sold, and after that website a hilarious “ad” for the toy is revealed. Check it out below as spotted by @SirBoyyo on Twitter:

Can you buy Rick’s hilarious new plush?
Episode 7 of the sixth season, “Full Meta Jackrick,” reintroduces the Story-Train villain, Story Lord, into the series as he escapes the metaspace outside the fourth wall of the series and into the “real” world of Rsick and Morty yourself. It’s here that the Story Lord sees how mundane his creator’s real world has become, eventually coming up with a plan that forges a massive machine to steal motivation from the rest of Earth. It’s a little complicated, but the joke here is that they go to a factory that makes Rick Sanchez merchandise.

After pointing out that the Rick plushies are made earlier in the factory, Rick Story takes down Lord and so the villain is killed with one of these plushies. Rick appears in an ad for the plush itself stating that fans could follow a website URL to purchase one for themselves, and Adult Swim made sure curious fans had something to look up! Unfortunately, these plushies aren’t actually for sale (they’re not available in this reality!), but it sure is fun to see the series take the one step further for this one gag.
Would you really buy one of these Rick Sanchez plushies given the chance? Let us know all your thoughts about it in the comments! You can even contact me directly about all things animation and other cool stuff @Valdezology on Twitter!
