Rick and Morty is currently gearing up to return to Adult Swim with the final episodes of Season 6, but the showrunner behind the series has provided an important update on the progress of the now under-construction Season 8! The series’ sixth season has turned things around quite a bit as the franchise has not only made some big swings in terms of the interconnectivity between the episodes, but also opened it up to all sorts of fun new adventures. But while fans eagerly wait to see how Season 6 brings it all to a close, those behind the scenes have already gone much further.
Of Rick and Morty Season 6 returns to Adult Swim for its final episodes starting Sunday, November 20 at 11 p.m. EST, ComicBook.com had the chance to speak to current executive producer and showrunner Scott Marder about the season’s final episodes. When we asked if there was any chance we’d see Rick Prime, Evil Morty, Night Summer, or any of the other fan favorites in the series, Marder revealed that the team is now on the “back”. of writing season 8!
What’s in store for Rick and Morty season 8?
First, Marder asked if Rick Prime would be returning to the series anytime soon, but Marder couldn’t confirm when, but did confirm that we’d be seeing the new villain again with, “I can’t say when, but you’ll definitely see him again.” As many of the other villain fans new or old have been asking to see again, Marder revealed that they are “in the game” as the team is writing Season 8 at the time of this interview: “I think you’ll be excited to hear we’re following all sorts of fun stuff. We’re at the back of the writing season eight now and those are all things that are in play.”

Of Rick and Morty rather teasing that we’d be seeing new episodes of the series more often than ever before, it looks like the team behind the series has been lugging along in the future batch of episodes. Perhaps this will also lead to a lot more connectivity between episodes, as fans have enjoyed, but thankfully it won’t be long before we see what’s next as Rick and Morty Season 6 is coming to Adult Swim on November 20 with the first of the final episodes.
