Rick and Morty Season 6 brings back Major Villain

Rick and Morty Season 6 has been a big hit with fans so far for the attention it’s given to the overall serial numbering in the rest of the series, and while the final episode is a far cry from the rest of the season, there’s still a nice big callback with the return of one of Season 4’s greatest villains! The first half of the season shook things up quite a bit for Rick and the Smith Family as they went without portals, but it already seems that limiter has been ripped off in the final episodes.

Rick and Morty Season 6 is back for the final episodes of the season, and episode 7, “Full Meta Jackrick,” does as the title suggests and completely upends the episode’s structure as the titular duo escape from the confines of the fourth wall. . Soon they also find their way into a meta-narrative space beyond the boundaries of writing the series, encountering an old nemesis, Story Lord.

Who is Story Lord?

Story Lord first appeared in the Season 4 episode “Never Ricking Morty”, when a toy version of the titular duo found them trapped in the “Story-Train” that traps them in a circular story structure. It was only revealed to be a toy the real Rick and Morty bought, so their reunion with Story Lord comes with a helpful reminder that this villain didn’t actually meet the real versions of them, but still held quite a grudge about what the toy versions of them did.

His return in “Full Meta Jackrick” sees him return to the full series to confront his creator and flesh out his goal, which is to find motivation to get a goal. This is soon distorted to the point where he becomes stronger by stealing motivation from the entire world, thus leading to a full-on showdown with Rick likely taking this villain off the board for the series’ future. But it’s a nice callback to one of the standout characters… and also to Christopher Meloni’s Jesus Christ.
