PS5 fans surprised with new Quality of Life update

It looks like PlayStation 5 owners have been surprised with a new update to the console that improves on a standout feature. Since the launch of the PS5 in late 2020, PlayStation fans continue to report that Sony has done some extra work with the platform’s user interface. And while Sony has taken these criticisms to heart and made minor tweaks over time, all of the PS5’s annoyances haven’t gone away. Fortunately, with regards to the “Explore” part of the PS5, it seems that it has now been changed to resemble what was previously seen on PS4.

Over the past week, Sony seems to have slowly begun rolling out changes to the Explore tab of the PS5 dashboard. Previously, some PS5 owners were annoyed with the way the Explore section presented itself, especially since it only served to promote various games on PlayStation. In this new edition of the Explore tab, your own trophy level is now more prominently displayed and there is a section dedicated to Friends activity. While Sony is still promoting several new games available on PS5 in this section, the tweaks make it much less cumbersome than it once was.

It’s worth noting that this update from the PS5’s Explore page isn’t actually an update to the console itself, meaning there’s no patch you’ll need to download to receive this change yourself. Additionally, this change is one that doesn’t appear to have been rolled out to all PS5 owners around the world. Instead, it looks like these changes will only appear on PS5 consoles in the United States for now. Assuming this dashboard revision is met with a positive reception from fans, it seems likely that all PS5 consoles will receive this update in the future.

Have you already received this new update for the Explore section of your own PS5? And what else would you like to see Sony improve on the console in the future? Let me know in the comments or message me on Twitter at @MooreMan12.
