It looks like the release date for Picmin 4 could have just been leaked online ahead of an official announcement from Nintendo. Based on what we currently know, Nintendo’s lineup of exclusives for Switch in 2023 is slightly slimmer compared to previous years. While Nintendo came shooting out of the gate this year with Fire emblem: joinare the only other major first-party games appearing on the horizon for Switch The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom And Picmin 4. And however Tears of the Kingdom already has a set release date, it seems Picmin 4 could sit right behind it.

This is reported by the Greek retailer Game explorers, Picmin 4 is now slated for release later this year on May 26. It’s unknown where this date comes from, but May 26 happens to fall on a Friday, which is more often than not the day of the week when Nintendo releases new first-party games. While this date should be taken with a large grain of salt for now, we’ve seen retailers leak this kind of data in the past, meaning there may be some validity to this situation.

Probably the biggest reason why this potential launch date for Picmin 4 makes little sense since it’s so close to the release date of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. For those not in the know, Tears of the Kingdom is expected to release on Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023. With this in mind, it seems a bit baffling that Nintendo would want to release two of its biggest exclusives of the year in the space of two weeks. Still, crazier things have happened in the past, so maybe this isn’t out of the realm of possibility.
