Liam Neeson starred Qui-Gon Jinn Star Wars: The Phantom Menacein 1999. He then returned to the character in the series Obi Wan Kenobi. But the actor is not interested in getting back into the character.
According to comic, in an interview with Men’s Health, Neeson was asked if he would return to the Star Wars franchise. He replied that the franchise has grown too big to attract attention.
“No. Starwars, no. As much as I admire them, there are many now… So unfortunately I’m lost, but there are many.”
In a previous CB interview, Neeson said he only has one condition for returning to Star Wars.
“I think so [voltaria]… If it were a movie. I’m a bit of a TV snob, I have to admit, I love the big screen, you know? Qui-Gon, I can’t believe it’s been 24 years since we did that The Ghost Threat. I just can’t believe where the time has gone. It was a fantastic experience to make that film in London.”
Physical activity prevents Neeson from returning to Star Wars
In 2020, Liam Neeson confessed in an interview with ET that he is not a big fan of sci-fi movies. He also said he wouldn’t return to Star Wars because he doesn’t feel like going to the gym, after all, playing a Jedi requires physical preparation.
“I’m not really a big fan of the genre. I guess it’s Hollywood with all the bells and whistles and the tech feats and stuff – which I look up to – but I don’t feel like going to the gym for three hours every day to squeeze myself into a velcro suit with a cape. ”
“I admire actors and I know some actors who do – and they do a great job. It’s not my genre, really. The first Star Wars, I loved it, that was 22 years ago, and I liked that because it was new and that was new,” the actor added.
“I was playing with tennis balls, which would become little hairy creatures and stuff. That was interesting, acting-wise, trying to make that feel real, but that was the last one. It’s quite exhausting,” he concluded.
There are more live-action Star Wars productions coming up, like the third season of The Mandaloriana series about Ahsoka Tano and the second season of Andor.
Neeson performed Marlowe, The Pursuit, Explosive Legacy, MIB: Men in Black – International It is Cold-blooded revenge.
