Original Blade Director breaks silence on replacement reveal

Yann Demange is officially the director of Sheet, replacing Bassam Tariq at the helm after the latter left the project in October due to production issues. At the time, the split was reported as amicably as possible, and Tariq publicly supports these claims. On Monday evening, the filmmaker shared a congratulatory message with Demange on his Instagram account.

“The news is finally out: my dear brother Yann Mounir Demange is directing Blade! You are in for a real treat,” Tariq shared on his social media. “Yann was pushy about giving me the courage to start developing Mughal Mowgli. He also played a vital role during the post, helping Riz, my editor (Adam Biskupski), and myself to get the film across the finish line. During that time and during the pandemic, Yann became a dear friend and brother. I couldn’t be happier for him.”

Tariq expressed his best wishes and added, “As he takes on this role, I am proud to support him as he has supported me.”

The filmmaker shared a similar message after he first left the project, encouraging the studio to support it. “Sheetit’s been a nice ride,” Tariq wrote after leaving the project. “Right now, I am also filled with love and gratitude to the people at Marvel [as] the incredible crew and cast we’ve gathered. I can’t wait to see how the next director builds on the foundation we’ve laid.”

Is Black Knight coming in? Sheet?

The same reports revealing the director change said the film would start over with a fresh new script. Therefore, it is unclear whether Dane Whitman (Kit Harington) is still scheduled to appear.

“[Blade] used to be [part of the scene] for reasons that would hopefully become clear as you see more things, but [Mahershal Ali] was not there on the day,” foreveras producer Nate Moore told us earlier. “And we talked about two versions of that, one where we would cut it and one where we wouldn’t. ‘How lyrical do you want it to be?’ And again, it was more just for fun, to tease it a little bit, to hear the voice and not see the man, not similar to vampirism to some extent and we think that’s interesting to play with. we sort of knew that was on the table.

Sheet is scheduled for release on September 6, 2024.
