Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is preparing to re-follow the manga’s source material as the Code Arc will begin later this month and see Team 7 battle the right-hand man of Jigen who is seeking revenge after his master’s death . Before then, the anime will end Sasuke Retsuden, the side story that takes place in the time before Boruto Uzumaki took center stage and gives us some key moments in the couple’s history that were left untold in the Shonen’s past.

While Sasuke Retsuden saw the Uchiha fight a dinosaur for what many fans consider a bit too long, the storyline has also given fans some big moments in Sasuke and Sakura’s relationship. With the last member of the Uchiha giving Sakura a ring to solidify his feelings for her, this certainly made for a good period of time to explore. In addition to the anime adaptation, the arc also prints new chapters of its manga, with the story first reaching the anime community through a new series ending an adventure where Naruto was in deep trouble with his former teammates who the Seventh Hokage wanted to help.

Instagram cosplayer Refeen shared this take on Sakura and Sasuke with their Boruto: Naruto Next Generations aesthetic, with their union resulting in the birth of one of the sequel series’ biggest new characters in Sarada, who was able to become the leader of Team 7 thanks to her tactical genius:

Sasuke has been struggling since Jigen’s death, with the battle leading to him losing his eye thanks to an Otsutsuki-influenced Boruto. Now that he no longer has the strength to rely on his Rinnegan jutsu, the Uchiha will have to rely even more on the next generation when it comes to fighting the latest incarnation of the Kara Organization. Of course, we’ve seen a slew of new issues in recent chapters of the manga thanks to Konoha’s latest surprise recruits in Eida and Daemon, Code’s former allies.
