Naruto Cliffhanger teases terrible future for Boruto

Boruto: Naruto Next Generations has started setting the stage for the manga’s next major arc, and the cliffhanger of the series’ latest chapter has shared a bleak look at the future of Boruto and the others! The manga spent its last few chapters in a transition period after battling Code, and now Eida and her brother Daemon have made their way to the Hidden Leaf Village after Amado’s entrance. But as they begin to settle into their new home, some big seeds have been planted for a terrible looking future.

As we’ve seen since the battle with Code, Boruto and Momoshiki Otsutsuki’s powers begin to mix as his karma has become more advanced. With the Otsutsuki constantly trying to take over his body already a major eyesore, the latest chapter takes this to the next level by connecting more of their minds together. Because of this, Boruto eventually gets a glimpse of the future that shows everyone around him in a terrible state of distress without really being able to discern what’s really going on.

What does Boruto tease for the future?

Chapter 75 of Boruto: Naruto next generations reveals that Momoshiki and Boruto’s minds are now linked as a result of the developing karma. Momoshiki also doesn’t quite understand why this is happening, and soon Boruto has a vision using the power of the Otsutsuki. Flashing images reveal to him some ninjas trying to chase someone who escaped, Shikadai angry about a friend’s betrayal, Mitsuki activating his Sage Mode power and Kawaki standing over someone in blood.

Eida sees that Boruto has some unsettling feeling, but there’s no real way to put this together yet. If it’s from his perspective, it looks like Boruto and Kawaki are going to have a big fight, but it also looks like Boruto is doing some disturbing things himself. Now it’s just a matter of watching how this dark future unfolds over the course of the rest of the latest arc.
