Maya MC will end with the upcoming season 5. The final season of Maya MC was officially announced this week by FX Content and FX Productions Chairman John Landgraf during the winter TCAs. The Sons of lawlessness spinoff ending after just five seasons is likely to anger its diehard fanbase, like zoA ran for seven seasons.
Like Break bad spinoff You better call Saulthere has been a devoted debate over whether the spin-off surpassed the original series. Sons of lawlessness Universe creator Kurt Sutter successfully expanded the SoA universe into the Maya MC for the first two seasons; but even if the show’s acclaim slowly grew in seasons 3 and 4, when co-creator Elgin James took over as showrunner, the viewership certainly didn’t. Seasons 3 and 4 were pretty much even across the board in terms of viewership increases, and there was definitely a drop in viewership between seasons 3 and 4. As with any other Hollywood production Maya MC had to get mixed up with the COVID pandemic, but at the same time, it’s more than fair that FX is limiting the series to one more season run before calling it quits. Five seasons will be a solid block of content for FX on Hulu streaming, where latecomers can discover and binge it.
When Maya MC Season 4 ended, the game board had shifted drastically. Going full King Richard, EZ used the Mayans’ club bylaws to both oust the club’s founder, Alvarez, and ambush the former president of his chapter, Bishop, by reinstating him as VP… under EZ itself. EZ’s rise to power has put him at odds with the most powerful people in his circle, including his own brother, Angel. Outside the Maya clubhouse, the skirmish with the Sons of Anarchy has degenerated into all-out war, as the police and warring cartels all have the Maya in their sights.
It’s going to be a wild final season of Maya MC
“We know where it ends,” Elgin James told Variety at the red carpet premiere of Mayans Season 4. “I know the very last shot. So it’s not in Season 4, so I’m just going to say, there must be at least one more. But we know exactly where it ends and we’ve been going there for a while.”
Maya MC Stars JD Pardo as Ezekiel “EZ” Reyes, Clayton Cardenas as EZ’s brother Angel Reyes, Edward James Olmos as their father, Felipe Reyes, and an ensemble cast that includes Danny Pino, Carla Baratta, Michael Irby, Raoul Max Trujillo, Emilio Rivera, Sarah Bolger , Frankie Loyal, Joseph Lucero and Vincent Vargas.
