Marvel’s Fantastic four reboot movie is still chugging along and the project’s latest update has revealed when we can actually expect cameras to start rolling. In conversation with DeWrapdirector Matt Shakman, who previously helmed Marvel’s WandaVision and lined up to direct Star Trek 4, confirmed that filming on the movie will begin in early 2024. This matches the film’s previously announced release date, which was instead pushed back from November 2024 to February 2025. A one-year time frame for production and mail has become the standard for MCU films.
“It was just too hard to pass up and go back to Marvel, a place where I worked on ‘WandaVision,’ with those people who are great collaborators,” Shakman told the outlet. “It’s really a family there and to be able to go back and tackle something that I really love, and they’re very similar in some ways, they both launched at the same time in the ’60s, they’re both about optimism and looking to the stars and technology can solve anything and they’re also about family the family you have the family you make so they’re aligned in a lot of ways and speak to my heart and equally so i’m excited to work on ‘Fantastic Four’.”
With less than a year before production begins, it certainly seems like casting the movie is imminent, but fans should remember that there’s an entire year between now and then when literally anything can happen. Marvel Studios also has their favorite place to make announcements, San Diego Comic-Con, as a potential place to not only confirm the cast of Fantastic Four, but also reveal which villain they’ll be facing in their own movie .
Who plays the MCU Fantastic Four?
It hasn’t yet been confirmed by anyone at Marvel Studios who will be taking on these iconic roles for the property’s MCU reboot, but fans have been casting potential actors in the role using their imaginations for a while now. A favourite It’s always sunny in Philadelphia star Glenn Howerton, who was previously among the finalists to play Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy.
“Look, it would be super fun, and of course the director, Matt Shakman, is a really good friend and an absolutely incredible director, so it would be super fun to work with him again. But nobody’s called me about that yet, but I would take that call,” the actor previously said The movie Dweeb.
When is Fantastic four release?
As part of Marvel Studios’ latest round of delays, Matt Shakman’s Fantastic Four movie will now hit theaters on February 14, 2025, instead of November 8, 2024.
