Makoto Shinkai’s Suzume no Tojimari Celebrates Overseas Premiere With New Trailer

Makoto Shinkai’s latest anime feature film has made its way to theaters in Japan, and to celebrate, Suzume no Tojimari has released a new trailer showing what fans can expect from the new film! Shinkai has become one of the most notable anime directors in recent years thanks to major successes such as Your Name and Weathering With You, and now fans abroad are starting to get their chance to check out the director’s latest work, featuring high school students again are wrapped up in a mystical kind of problem that only they can solve before it’s too late for the world.

Suzume no Tojimaric officially released in theaters (and in IMAX) in Japan from November 11, even taking over the box office for other massive worldwide releases such as Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. To celebrate the full release of the film, Toho has launched a new trailer for Suzume no Tojimaric that shows off the expansive cast, much of the film’s exciting visuals, and teasing the main story for the movie itself. How Suzume no Tojimari . to watch

Suzume no Tojimaric has not yet been given an official English title, but it has been licensed for an English language release as Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment plan to release the film internationally sometime next year. Makoto Shinkai is credited with the direction, story and screenplay for Toho and CoMix Wave Films. Masayoshi Tanaka will provide character design, Kenichi Tsuchiya will serve as animation director, Takumi Tanji will become art director, and Nanoka Hara has been announced as the voice behind Suzume.

As for what to expect, Suzume no Tojimaric is teased as such: “At the other side of the door was time in its entirety — 17-year-old Suzume’s journey begins in a quiet Kyushu town when she meets a young man who tells her, ‘I’m looking to a door.’ What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing upright amid ruins as if shielded from any catastrophe, Suzume must close these portals to prevent further disaster.
