Main character of Mass Effect 4 seemingly teased

The protagonist of the new Mass effect game — tentatively dubbed Mass effect 4 by much of the internet – possibly exposed, or at least teased. Mass effectt fans continue to inspect every pixel of the recent N7 Day teaser for the game, which is pretty minor on the surface, but beneath this superficial level are a variety of hidden details with some potentially huge implications. For example, if you increase the exposure of the teaser there appears to be a reflection and within that reflection it appears to be the back of an N7 suit very reminiscent of something you would see Commander Shepard wearing.

If Commander Shepard were the only person to ever wear N7 armor, this would seemingly confirm that they’re back, but they’re not. It’s possible this is a new character wearing N7 armor, or Ryder from Mass Effect: Andromeda, who, despite never officially joining N7, do gain access to their weapons and armor in the game. That said, everything in a teaser is very intentional, and when you see that reflection, you immediately think of Commander Shepard and it certainly should have been designed that way.

Unfortunately, all we have now is speculation. And as you might expect, BioWare isn’t interested in commenting on these speculations. There are more and more variables about the new Mass effect game that suggests Shepard plays a role, but there are also variables countering the return of the iconic character, making it hard to know where to place bets.

Whether or not this is Shepard in the reflection, we’re not sure. It’s someone for sure, and you’d assume it’s the protagonist. But to argue that it’s Shepard is stretching a little too much at this point.

As always, leave a comment to let us know what you think. Do you think that’s Shepard’s reflection? Should BioWare bring back Shepard, Ryder, or give players an entirely new character?
