The new thriller from M. Night Shyamalan Knock on the hut is in theaters this week and now the official Rotten Tomatoes score for the film has been revealed! According to this initial composite score, Knock on the hut scored a 71% “Fresh” rating, with nearly 100 critic reviews.
Concerning the Rotten tomatoes aggregate process, a score based on almost 100 reviews means that Knock on the hut has achieved a fairly reliable critical score, which is unlikely to see wild fluxes up or down. According to the film’s “Critics Consensus” synopsis on RT, “While it’s often not scary and parts of the story don’t take criticism, Knock on the hut is a thought-provoking chiller and Shyamalan is top notch.”
ComicBook Nation host Kofi Outlaw (me) offers that Knock on the hut sees M. Night Shyamalan take another step in the right direction of his career and settle into his niche as a talent teller of scary parables, best expressed in films such as The sixth sense, plates, the village, or deviI. Those who go for the classic (read: tired) “Shyamalan Twist” or full-on horror scare are going in with the wrong expectations.
In ComicBook.com’s official review of Knock on the huthorror aficionado Patrick Cavanaugh says the movie is a clear comeback for Shyamalan, even with his flaws:
Knock on the hut delivers audiences with a mind-boggling premise that feels all too real, yet is elevated just enough to allow for some escapism, with its overall narrative structure making it easy to believe in the events and keep us invested until the very end.
The intimate nature of the setting and captivating performances from a cohesive ensemble help sell the bizarreness of the concept, and even if the final result irks the audience, those disappointed in the result may only feel those frustrations because you’re so deep in the resolution invested and easy. The experience could have easily meant three disappointments in a row for Shyamalan, but he’s managed to bounce back strong enough by embracing his narrative and directorial strengths that we’ll continue to watch the big swings that keep us on our toes instead from which he rests. his laurels.
Rating: 4 out of 5
