Katie Holmes almost threw it all in the air due to lack of success


Kate Holmes revealed that he thought he was going to be a one hit wonder and almost resigned himself to giving up on acting after a few hiccups.

The actress has been called into a Broadway show The Wanderersand in an interview detailing the piece The Tonight Show hosted by Jimmy Fallonremembered his first movie, Ice storm, from 1997. “Well, I was 17 years old and I remember when we came to New York, my mom and I, I shot the movie and thought, ‘Oh, this is what I want to do with my life. That is wonderful,” she said.

Katie’s excitement didn’t last long as, according to her, she was rejected on all the tests she took. There came a time when she thought her acting career was over before it even started.

“I applied for a lot of roles and sent in a lot of tapes for auditions, and nobody called me about anything. Then I thought, ‘Oh, what a pity, I think that’s all, there’s nothing left for me’. But that was fine because I pretty much decided it, like, ‘You know what? It’s okay. It was a great experience and I can share it with my grandchildren. It will be fine’. Then I came home.”

Katie doubted her talent and confessed that she thought her casting in the Ang Lee movie was just beginner’s luck. “That was my second day in Los Angeles and my first audition. I kept thinking it was just luck,” he explained.

The actress assured that she didn’t want this to be the end of her acting career, but at the same time she didn’t want to appear ungrateful after the opportunity she got in Ice storm.

“Of course I wanted more work, but I was like, ‘Don’t be too greedy.’

In 1998, Katie was asked to join Suspicious behaviour, and from then on he established himself in the profession. She was later selected to play Joey Potter Dawson’s Creek, and his career took off. From that moment on, she no longer had to worry about the uncertainty of not thinking she was good enough to act.
