JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure cosplay brings the next anime Joestar to life

Last year, Jolyne Cujoh’s story came to an end in the latest arc of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Stone Ocean, with the anime’s future still remaining a mystery at this point. While far from confirmed, the next chapter of the anime adaptation would most likely follow the manga’s next arc after the story surrounding Stone Free in Steel Ball Run. Prior to Johnny Joestar’s arrival on the small screen, a cosplayer decided to bring the next anime Joestar to life.

If you are not familiar with the story of Steel Ball Run, the seventh story arc of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure introduces us to a new reality that took place outside the original universe and spawned the likes of Phantom Blood, Battle Tendency, Stardust Crusaders, Diamond Is Unbreakable, Golden Wind and Stone Ocean. Set in the 1800s, Johnny Joestar enters a cross-country horse race, having lost the ability to use his legs and hopes that by winning the competition, he can regain what he lost. With the story taking the opportunity to include some serious Stand fights and show us alternate versions of old favorites, there’s a reason many Joestar fans will typically consider Steel Ball Run one of their favorite arcs from the franchise.

Johnny’s Bizarre Adventure

Instagram cosplayer Bet Win Cosplay took the opportunity to share a fresh look at Johnny Joestar, the Steel Ball Run rider star who will be the main character for the potential upcoming season yet to be confirmed for the small screen:

Next month, February 2023, will be an important moment for fans of the Joestars axis JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure returns to the world of manga thanks to the new chapter, The JoJo Lands. While there are still many questions about creator Hirohiko Araki’s next chapter, the mangaka has confirmed that the star of the series will be a descendant of Joseph Joestar, albeit the one who was part of JoJolion’s timeline. With a recent preview showing that the series will take place in a tropical setting, perhaps the JoJo Lands will focus on a boat race rather than a horse race.

Do you hope David Production returns to edit the Steel Ball Run story in the future? Feel free to let us know in the comments or call me directly on Twitter @EVComedy to talk about all things comics, anime and the world of the Joestars.
