If you see reports about the future of DC Studios or the DC Universe, everything you hear is false. That, of course, is the view of DC Studios boss James Gunn himself, who took to Twitter this week to debunk rumors circulating the internet. Gunn responded to a fan pointing to rumors suggesting the DCU’s Batman has already been decided, saying that no one besides himself and Peter Safran knows what the franchise’s future holds.
“Anyone who says they know anything about anything in the future DCU is bullshit,” Gunn tweeted. “Because right now that’s really just me and Peter.”

When will DC Studios announce its plans?
Since Gunn and Safran launched the studio earlier this month, the filmmakers have said they hope to reveal their first set of plans within the next two months.
“We are honored to be the stewards of these DC characters that we have loved since we were kids,” Gunn and Safran added in a joint statement announcing their appointment for the first time. “We look forward to working with the most talented writers, directors and actors in the world to create an integrated, multi-layered universe that still allows for the individual expression of the artists involved. Our commitment to Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Harley Quinn and the rest of DC’s stable of characters is matched only by our dedication to the wonder of human possibility that these characters represent. We are excited to revive the theater experience around the world while we have some of the greatest, greatest, and grandest stories ever told.”
The new boss of Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav has consistently praised the work of the two, including during a moment during the company’s latest call.
“I think you’re going to see a lot of growth and opportunity in DC over the next few years; there won’t be four Batmans,” said Zaslav. “And so part of our strategy is to expel from DC, which is what James and Peter are going to do. I think they’ve thrilled the fans. I think they’ll thrill you over time.”
The most recently released DC movie to hit theaters was Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. Black Adam with Johnson and Aldis Hodge (Underground, The invisible man) as Hawkman, Noah Centineo (To all the boys I used to love, Charlie’s Angels) as Atom Smasher, Quintessa Swindell (Trinkets, Euphoria) as Cyclone, Sarah Shahi (The L word, Sex/Life) as Adrianna Tomaz and Pierce Brosnan (Golden Eye, Mama Mia!) as Doctor Lot. Uli Latukefu, Marwan Kenzari, Mohammed Amer, James Cusati-Moyer and Bodhi Sabongui have also been cast.
