How to Get an Early Gimmighoul

Pokemon Scarlet and purple boast plenty of odd Pokemon for players to catch in this generation, and one of the biggest eccentric balls is Gimmighoul, the Chest Pokemon. This creature lives in place of a chest and accumulates wealth and is only rarely seen outside its chest home, but finding one in the treasury is difficult in itself. However, we’ve already found a place where Pokemon Trainers can get their hands on a Gimmighoul quite early on.

As a refresher, Gimmighoul is the Pokemon that was first spotted pokemon go unlike in the new games. That may be where the name and coin theme sounded familiar if you’ve heard of it before, but if you want one Scarlet and Purple, this is what you need to know:

Where to find Gimmighoul Pokemon Scarlet and purple?

To find an early Gimmighoul Pokemon Scarlet and purple, you must proceed to the point in the game where you get your Ride Pokemon. Which one that is depends on whether you have it Scarlet or purplebut the version isn’t important: all you need is that Ride Pokemon and the ability to ride through Paldea on its back.

After being able to ride your Ride Pokemon, head up the ladder from the Poco Path Lighthouse, the structure where you first met Arven. Once at the top, you can mount your Ride Pokemon one more time. Looking northwest from the ledge, you should see some raised ground directly below you that was inaccessible from the base of the lighthouse. Jump off the lighthouse and up the ridge, then continue northwest and you’ll see a Gimmighoul in his chest form sitting directly in front of you.

Can you catch Roaming Form Gimmighoul?

You can find Gimmighoul outside chests all over Paldea, but you can’t catch them (yet). You can interact with these hidden creatures when you find them to get some Gimmighoul Coins, but The Pokemon Company teased that we’ll have to wait until later to see if catching the Roaming Form is possible.

“Surprisingly, Roaming Form Gimmighoul has also been spotted in the world of Pokémon GO! It seems that Mr. Jacq – an expert on the biology of Pokémon in the Paldea region – and Professor Willow, who has been researching with Trainers done in the world of Pokémon GO, have joined forces to come up with a way to catch them. Wait for future announcements to hear all about their research results.”
