How Daryl Dixon’s Spinoff Differs From The Walking Dead (Exclusive)

The Daryl Dixon series that stems from The living Dead will be different and will not look, feel or even sound The living Dead. Norman Reedus reprises his role as the eponymous survivor of the lone wolf zombie apocalypse in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixona brand new one Walking dead spin-off show currently being filmed and set in Paris, France. Part of AMCs Walking dead Universe expands with the New York spin-off of Maggie and Negan and the epic love story in which Rick Grimes and Michonne, the Daryl Dixon spin-off finds Daryl in Europe asking how he got there – and how he gets back home.

“There was part of it [the series finale] where I kind of smiled, and that tone sort of spills into the spin-off,” Reedus told me exclusively Comic of his last scene of the series, which ended on a lighter and more hopeful note. “And then things go horribly wrong, like everything else The living Dead. It kind of felt like I was going to see what’s new in the world, you know what I mean? Everyone was safe and I was going to see what’s out there.”

Reedus continued, “The tone is very different, the [cinematography is] completely different. The lighting is different. We are in castles and the storyline has a religious atmosphere. Part of the story is that I am around a group of people who speak French. I’m trying to figure out like, ‘Is this going to be a fight?'”

AMC Networks revealed first-look footage of Reedus in the new series, which comes from executive producer Scott M. Gimple, executive producer and showrunner David Zabel, and director Greg Nicotero.

“I just think it’s really kind of embracing Stranger in a strange land kind of scenario, where we explore post-apocalyptic Europe through the eyes of Daryl Dixon,” said Nicotero, who directed the series finale of The living Dead, said in our postmortem “Rest in Peace”. “I have to say, we had a great time. It’s really just a different animal. And I was even a little surprised when I got on set and said, ‘I’m on Walking dead for 12 years and here we are.’ But it feels fresh and it feels new. And David Zabel, our showrunner, was an absolute pleasure to work with. And it’s been really fun.”

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will premiere on AMC and AMC+ in 2023.
