Hormel releases chili cheese flavored beer

If you’ve ever sat and thought that drinking is a better way to consume a bowl of chili, you might be in luck. On Tuesday, Hormel announced its Chili Cheese Beer, a new beverage beloved as the company’s flagship products. A collaboration between Hormel and Modist Brewing Co. to make the lager.

Modist uses Minnesota Pilsner barley malt and flaked corn chips as the base for the drink before adding chili seasoning and cheddar cheese powder to recreate the flavors of Hormel Chili Cheese Dip.

“Football season is as much about the game as it is about great food and drink, and the people you enjoy watching the game with,” Hormel Brand Manager Jason Hron said in a press release. “This year we were inspired to bring fans together and create something everyone can agree on – an irresistible sip that unites the best flavors of our famous HORMEL® Chili Cheese Dip.”

The drink is now for sale at the Hormel website, retailing for $24 for a pack of four cans. The beers are expected to be ready to ship before the NFL’s Super Bowl LVII on Feb. 12.

“The makers of Hormel Chili teamed up with brewers from the award-winning Modist Brewing Co. to create an unexpected sip inspired by everyone’s favorite dip for this truly, absolutely delicious collaboration. With a bit of madness and a serious amount of chili-inspired seasoning, the beer is now ready for fans’ taste buds,” the chili maker says of his new product. How can beer taste like chili cheese dip? The pulverizable American lager contains Minnesota Pilsner barley malt and corn flakes. To this delicious corn chip flavored base, Modist Brewing Co. added a blend of savory spices and hints of cheddar cheese powder to enhance the flavors of Hormel Chili Cheese Dip come to life.”

The beer is available while stocks last.
