Helen Mirren teases her villain role

In a few months, movie fans will be treated to the premiere of Shazam! Anger of the Gods. The sequel to DC’s beloved 2019 film certainly raises the bar in some cool ways – including the new additions to the cast. Among them is Helen Mirren, who will play the villainous Hespera in the movie, marking Mirren’s first official foray into the world of superheroes. In a recent interview with AP EntertainmentMirren spoke about the experience of working Anger of the godsteasing that it was “great” – but not without its challenges.

“It was amazing,” Mirren revealed. “For me, work is – of course, work is making money, of course – and it’s also my artistic expression and stuff. But it’s also fun. And there are certain things you do just for fun. And doing Shazam is definitely one of those jobs that was so much fun and also very hard work. Very hot in Atlanta. My costume weighed, I think, thirty pounds; it was so heavy. But great, very fun to do that kind of thing from a movie. Just fantastic. “
