GTA 6’s anticipated release window revealed by Xbox

Microsoft has announced when it expects Grand Theft Auto VI be released. It’s been almost ten years since Rockstar Games released the last Grand Theft Auto game and four years since the latest title, Red Dead Redemption 2. Since no one makes a game like Rockstar Games thanks to the talent, size and resources allocated to the staff, many crave a new title. However, things like COVID have likely pushed back some projects internally, but Rockstar Games was kind enough to confirm that the next Grand Theft Auto is in the works and will seemingly be the next release. When it will release remains to be seen, as we don’t even have a trailer for the game yet, but Rockstar promises more information in the coming months.

However, one new story is doing the rounds that suggests Microsoft has some insight into when Rockstar will release GTA6. As part of the ongoing situation between Microsoft, Sony and regulators over the Activision acquisition, the holder of the Xbox platform has filed a filing discussing Activision’s competitors and the value they bring to the industry. In the submissionnotes Microsoft that it expects Grand Theft Auto VI will be released in 2024, which means we are a maximum of 24 months away from playing it. However, there is a catch. The submission cites a article from TechRadar that collects all the great ones GTA6 rumors of speculation surrounding a 2024 release date. A report from Bloomberg suggested developers don’t expect the game to release before 2024, Take-Two expects significant growth by the end of that year, and other rumors suggest it could be ready by then to be.

That said, it seems more likely that Microsoft doesn’t know (or doesn’t release its own information) and instead gathers a consensus from the internet. Anyway, 2024 doesn’t seem out of the question. By then, Rockstar will have had a 6 year release gap from the previous title and 11 years since the last Grand Theft Auto.
