Gran Turismo 7 is getting a 25th anniversary event and free gifts

As hard as it is to believe, the original Gran Turismo released on PlayStation in 1997, this year marking the 25th anniversary of the franchise. PlayStation isn’t about to let that occasion pass without a celebration, and fans can expect some festivities in the near future Gran Turismo 7. On a new PlayStation blog post, SIE senior product manager Ken Chan spoke about the Gran Turismo World Series World Finals, which will be held in Monaco from November 24-27. During the World Finals, there are several in-game events for players to participate in, as well as free gifts.

Players can expect some changes on the world map Gran Turismo 7 as part of this event, and four banners will be added to the top right of the screen:

  • World Series banner – Allows players to watch league streams (November 24-27)
  • Bonus Campaign – allows players to predict the winners and win credits for correct guesses (November 17-27)
  • Viewer Campaign – allows players to participate in quizzes based on the races to gain “early access to the Ferrari Vision GT and other in-game items” (November 25 to December 5)
  • Gran Turismo 25th Anniversary Banner – allows players to participate in special races, with more points than usual. By participating, players will receive the Red Bull X2019 25th Anniversary livery car (November 25 to January 3)

Chan also says that during the event he will be “looking back at those 25 years and glimpse the future on the podium”, which should give GT fans even more incentive to watch. The Gran Turismo series has been a fan favorite for 25 years and means a lot to PlayStation gamers around the world. Hopefully the anniversary event will be a fun one for old fans and newcomers alike!

Gran Turismo 7 is now available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Readers can check out all of our previous coverage of the game here.
