Gotham knights developer WB Games Montreal has confirmed it is working on a new game and has been teasing that game in the process. Of Gotham knights out now, many are wondering what’s next for the Canadian studio. Before Gotham knights was released, many may have thought a sequel would be next, but the game’s lukewarm reception now suggests otherwise. You’d expect WB Games Montreal to move on to something else after this. Whether this is going to happen or not, time will tell, but we know the studio is once again working on a AAA console game. Unfortunately, this is the extent of the teasing.
You could say this is a boring tease, but that’s because it’s designed to be a real tease. This tease of information comes courtesy an official vacancy for the studio which unfortunately does not contain any other salient information.
It’s safe to assume that this mystery game is at least several years away, unless it was in development at the same time Gotham knights. But even if it did, it was probably only through pre-production. Further, and this is important to remember, there was nine years between the release of Gotham knights and the studio’s previous game, Batman: Arkham Origins. In other words, fans of the studio are stuck with it Gotham knightswhich according to our review of the game isn’t the worst ever, but it’s not the best ever either.
“Gotham knights is a fun but flawed video game, one that sometimes tries too hard to emulate his own Batman: Arkham predecessors of the series and often struggles with the core mechanics of the game, but still offers a compelling storyline and characterization thereof Batman fans will enjoy,” our review opens Gotham knights. “The new open world action game from WB Games Montreal (the creator of the mediocre Batman: Arkham Origins game) stars Batman’s four protégés – Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood and Robin – who team up to solve their mentor’s latest case after Batman’s death. Like Arkham City, Gotham knights features an open-world map filled with a mix of random crimes to stop, collectibles to find, and storylines to follow.”
As always, feel free to leave a few comments to let us know what you think. What would you like to see next from WB Games Montreal? More Gotham knights or something new?
