A new War god Ragnarok leak was shot by Sony Santa Monica. War god Ragnarok is one of the biggest games of 2022 and was shrouded in immense secrecy for years. The development of the game was also interesting considering it was a cross-gen PS4/PS5 game largely conceived during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since it’s such a big, cinematic game, there were probably a lot of logistical challenges and hurdles to overcome. In fact, the team behind the game recently stated that it wasn’t certain the game was ready until a few months before release.
Given the very complicated and often messy nature of game development, many people want to see how the sausage is made. Sony has made a number of documentaries for games such as The last of us and God of war that provide a transparent, honest look at how these games are made over several years. Given the unique circumstances during the development of War god Ragnarok, many hoped that we would get a documentary about it. An insider named Millie A on Twitter stated that there was a lengthy documentary on the development of the game and the obstacles of COVID-19 and the pressure to follow up on such a renowned game. Sony Santa Monica was quick to nip this in the bud, stating that this isn’t true, as the team opted to create shorter behind-the-scenes videos that appear every Tuesday detailing a bit of the game’s development.
There is no documentary in the making.
We’ve put a lot of love and effort into our BTS series, which comes out every Tuesday, and that’s our take on development for GoWR.

The recent behind-the-scenes videos aren’t as in-depth or raw as the documentary for its predecessor, but it’s still a valuable behind-the-scenes look at such a huge game. It’s unclear if Sony plans to do more documentaries for future games or if it’s just opting to do general behind-the-scenes videos in small chunks on YouTube.
