Genshin Impact Passes Huge Revenue Milestone

Genshin effect has officially reached $4 billion in sales since its debut in 2020. According to reporting from, the miHoYo RPG made a whopping $1.4 billion in the first three quarters of the year. By the time the game was two years old in September 2022, Genshin effect had reached $3.7 billion worldwide. Those numbers just show how much success the game continues to find, and it’ll be interesting to see how that number continues to climb in 2023.

While some genre fans can be forgiven for dismissal Genshin effect when it was first announced, it’s hard to overstate how much the game has become a global phenomenon in a short period of time. Much of the game’s success can be attributed to miHoYo’s steady stream of updates; the developer consistently offers new content and characters to keep players invested. The most recent version of the game was released last month and brings the game to version 3.3. Version 3.4 currently has no release date, but miHoYo has scheduled a livestream on January 6, where players will learn what to expect in terms of new content.

Genshin effectThe game’s revenue comes from current versions, but it’s possible that the game will see even more success once it’s released on Nintendo Switch. A Switch version has been part of miHoYo’s plans from the start, but it’s been a while since the company offered another update. Given the Nintendo Switch’s install base, it’s possible that the game could find a lot of new players once it’s released. Hopefully 2023 will be the year that Genshin effect finally comes out on Switch, but for now fans will have to settle for the current versions of the game!
