Gears 6 And Remastered Collection Leak Debunked By Xbox

A recent leak related to Weapons of war 6 and a new remastered collection of the original trilogy has been debunked. The Gears of War series is probably second only to Halo in terms of really big, important franchises on Xbox. It was one of the first major Xbox 360 exclusives, and players immediately gravitated to it for its bloody combat, fun PvP multiplayer, and immersive co-op campaign. The series would then spawn multiple sequels and spin-offs, but has lost a bit of momentum in recent years. It’s been four years now Gears 5 and we haven’t heard anything about the next game yet, leaving many wondering what’s next for the main saga.

Nevertheless, one recent leak from The XboxEra Podcast claimed to have logos for both Gears 6 and a new “Ultimate Collection” featuring games from the series, remastered or remade for modern consoles. The first game got the remake treatment some time ago, but fans were hoping to see it Gears of War 2 and 3 get ready for Xbox Series X|S. The podcast’s hosts noted that the leak could easily be fake because it wasn’t verified and… it seems that was exactly the case. Xbox marketing director for Halo and Gears of War responded to a report about the leak, claiming it was “fake news”. So the source of this leak is at least probably not legit and would mean that none of the information is correct.

It seems quite likely that Gears 6 is in the works and we’ll probably expect a reveal sometime this year based on how long it’s been since the last entry. Whether that happens remains to be seen, but it’s also unclear if there will be a Gears of War collection. It’s something that fans really want and has been whispered about, but nothing super concrete has come of it yet.
