An important part of the crazy max franchise, in addition to exploring apocalyptic wastelands, is the embrace of high-octane car adventures, which will continue in the coming Crazy Max: Furiosa aims to fully honor. Despite the importance of driving, star Anya Taylor-Joy recently recalled that while the movie gave her the opportunity to display death-defying skills, she still doesn’t have a driver’s license that would allow her to drive legally anywhere. The artist explained how she can perform precise and intense maneuvers with vehicles, but more mundane tasks such as parallel parking are still beyond her reach. Crazy Max: Furiosa lands in theaters May 24, 2024.
“I don’t actually have a driver’s license, so I can’t drive. I can’t go on a highway, I can’t parallel park, but if you need me to do a juicy 180 in a truck, I can do that.” and not hit the cameramen, which is great,” Taylor-Joy shared IndieWire. “Ultimately I’ll stay in one place long enough to get a driver’s license and then I’ll be really happy because then I can play. But as far as the first cars go, I think I’m pretty spoiled in the fact that they were built by the crazy max art department.”
While a traditional driver’s license may seem more practical, the actor noted that it’s more likely she’ll want to get her stunt driver’s license first.
“That’s the other thing, when a driving instructor gets into a car with me, all I know is how to do crazy stunts,” Taylor-Joy joked. “I’m planning to get my stunt driver’s license… so then I can do all my driving in all the movies, which would be great. But I’m afraid for the poor man or woman who takes the test. I’m with me, because gentle I am not.”
The new film is described: “As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. As they traverse the Wasteland, they against the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. As the two tyrants battle for dominance, Furiosa must endure many trials as she gathers the resources to find her way home.”
