Considered one of the icons of Brazilian journalism, presenter died last Thursday, 2; ceremony took place in Rio de Janeiro
The body of the journalist Glory Mary was cremated at the end of the afternoon of this Friday the 3rd at Rio de Janeiro. Relatives, friends and professional colleagues attended the vigil to say goodbye to the reporter. Roberto Marina was the first to arrive at the ceremony. the presenter Poliana Abritta remembered how good it was to be with Gloria. “She deserves all the credit. The greatest tribute is to keep her alive with that smile, that freedom and that immense love,” said Abritta. In 2019, Glória Maria was diagnosed with lung cancer. She started treatment with immunotherapy, but there were metastases to her brain. There was a successful operation, but the metastasis returned in 2022. the presenter Maria Julia Coutinho emphasized that Glória paved the way for blacks in journalism. “She planted this legacy. We are fruits and heirs of glory. She opened a path for all of us,” said the journalist. The ceremony took place at Cemitério da Penitência, in the port area of Rio.
