Echo 3 Stars Say filming the Apple TV+ series was like “shooting 10 movies” back-to-back

Production of the upcoming Apple TV+ series echo 3 had a bumpy road to reach your television. Created by Academy Award winner Mark Boal and based on the novel by Amir Gutfreund, the series was filmed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and set entirely in the South American country of Colombia. To top it off, the series lacks the episodic feel viewers would expect, resulting in a bizarre movie experience for the cast. In an interview with’s Chris Killian, we asked the show’s cast if filming the series felt like filming multiple movies in a row, and the answer was yes.

“10 movies,” said series star Jessica Ann Collins. “It felt like 10 movies back-to-back-to-back.” Luke Evans added: “But the same movie and I think you know the creative side of it was their intention to make a story that had no stop and a beginning per episode; it just dragged you in and held you … going for the full 10 episodes, which felt a lot like making a movie.

Co-star Michiel Huisman, known for his appearance in Game of Thrones and The Ghost of Hill Househighly praised the film quality of the show and their commitment to the schedule as actors, adding, “I think shooting Echo 3 felt more like shooting 10 independent films. We were really on location. We never got on shot a stage or something. We spent about eight months in Colombia. We traveled from Bogota to the jungle to Cartagena in the north of the country and ended up shooting in the islands. It took us.”

The first three episodes of echo 3 premieres on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, November 23, with new episodes added every week. Luke Evans leads the cast for the series based on the award-winning series “When Heroes Fly”, created by Omri Givon and inspired by Amir Gutfreund’s novel of the same name. Apple TV+ describes it this way:

Set in South America, this action thriller follows Amber Chesborough, a brilliant young scientist who forms the emotional heart of a small American family. When Amber goes missing along the border between Colombia and Venezuela, her brother Bambi and husband Prince – two men with deep military experience and complicated pasts – struggle to find her in a multi-layered personal drama set against the explosive backdrop of a covert war. .
