Dragon Ball Super is gearing up to finally end hiatus and come back with new chapters, and to celebrate, the series has shared a first look at what fans can expect from the next big arc! When chapter 87 of the manga ended the Granolah the Survivor arc earlier this summer, fans were excited about all the possible places the story could go next. Unfortunately, there was an unexpected wait as the manga took a long hiatus to properly prepare for the next new arc. Thankfully, the wait is over, as the next arc of the series is almost here.
The official website for Dragon Ball Super announced that the manga will return for new chapters starting December 20 with chapter 88 of the series. This lines up with previous teases that we’d see a new arc of the series sometime in 2022, and the more exciting element of the announcement was the reveal of the first teaser image of what to expect in the upcoming “Super Hero” arc. Check it out below as spotted by @DBSChronicles on Twitter:

What comes next in Dragon Ball Super?
The official Dragon Ball website revealed that the series’ next major arc will be called the “Super Hero” arc. While this could mean it’s related to the events of the latest feature film, Dragon Ball Super: Superhero, the only thing confirmed from the first look at the new arc is that Teenage Goten and Trunks will play a big role in it. Not only will this look be the debut in the manga, but it looks like they got a makeover for the occasion as well.

Getting teen Goten and Trunks the way they looked in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero seems to be teasing that the next arc will be set around the events of the movie, but there are questions about what that could mean for the manga’s timeline. Since fans are still trying to place the events of the Galactic Patrol Prisoner and Granolah arcs within general canon, this could be a way to place them within the anime’s continuity.
