brad pitt decided to sell his mansion in Los Angeles for $38.3 million more than he originally paid for it. The home is located near Los Feliz and Pitt plans to sell it for $40 million, according to a People magazine publication (via vanity fair).
The actor bought the house in 1994, three years after the film’s release. Thelma & Louise, at a cost of $1.7 million. At the time, the actress lived in the place Cassandra Petersonwho is known for the character Elvira, the Queen of Darkness.
The place has since increased in value and whoever buys it still has other celebrities such as Giovanni Ribisi and Rooney Mara as neighbors. After all, it was in this mansion that guitarist Jimi Hendrix wrote the song May This Be Love.
Brad Pitt has made several improvements to the site
After acquiring the mansion, Pitt even bought two more adjacent properties to expand the site.
A few years before joining Angelina Jolie, he had already purchased two adjoining lots and decided to convert all the extra space into a huge outdoor pool. A private tennis pavilion and skate park were also built.
Now the property stands on 1.9 hectares of land and has a main house of approximately 601.7 m², six bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
But while for some people it is a dream to live in such a large and luxurious house, for Pitt it is the complete opposite. He wants to live smaller, because the house has now become too big for himself.
Before the divorce, in 2016, the home was where the Pitt and Jolie couple raised their children: Maddox, age 21; Pax, 19 years old; Zahara, 18 years old; Shiloh, 16, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 14.
In 2017, he even said in an interview with GQ that the property was his children’s childhood home.
The two actors were declared legally single in 2019, but are involved in ongoing negotiations over the custody of their children and the division of their assets, particularly regarding their vineyard in the South of France, Château Miraval.
The former couple acquired the property, which is about 1,200 acres and dates back to the 18th century in 2012 for $60 million. They also got married in 2014 in the property’s Romanesque chapel.
