Daredevil Born Again: Arrow Writers Join Show

Daredevil: Born Again has added Arrow writers Jill Blankenship and Grainne Godfree join the team for the Disney+ series. With the shooting coming up, the project is getting more real by the second. The cosmic circus reported the Arrowverse infusion to the MCU. Previously, Blankship was showrunner on The CW’s Naomi. (Interestingly, she also wrote the episode of Arrow that is supposed to lead to Green Arrows and the Canary Islands!) Godfree also had her hands all over The flash and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. While some MCU fans may not be familiar with these titles, they have a fierce following of their own. It will be interesting to see how the Daredevil show comes together.

How is Daredevil: Born Again coming?

Scripts are still being finalized, but Charlie Cox told NME that Reborn must balance the courtroom action with the superheroes. Fans of the Defenderverse have been waiting for this for a while.

“I’m fascinated to find out why they chose to do 18,” Cox explained. “I imagine there’s an element to it that’s like the old-fashioned procedural show. Not necessarily a case of the week, but something where we get really deep into Matt Murdock, the attorney, and get to see what his life is like when If that’s done right and he really gets his hands dirty with that world… I think there’s something really interesting about that, to spend a lot of time in the day-to-day life of a superhero and you really deserve the moments when he suits.”

When people ask what will be different with Reborn, the subject tone comes to the fore. Cox says the Disney+ show needs to be different from what came before, or why even bother. Many fans would love to see the Netflix show again, but the people who produce it expect a few tweaks.

“This must be a reincarnation, it must be different, why are we doing it differently?” he mused. “My opinion is that this character works best when it’s aimed at a slightly more mature audience. My instinct is that on Disney+ it’s going to be dark, but probably not as gory.”
